Castle Manor ... an adventure

"Residents, mostly seniors, of the 100-year-old special-care home were shocked earlier this month when the provincial government said it could be closing in 30 days unless a new operator could be found. The Department of Social Development has since given the 47 remaining residents until Jan. 15 and possibly longer.

I happened to stumble upon this beautiful, and Gothic building today with a fantastic adventure companion (natalie). little did we know this had been a closed building, but it seemed quite eerie entering this vacant but somewhat lived in manor. also, it was overgrown but had nicely cut grass. needless to say, the lack of proper fencing allowed us to not only get onto the roof but enter the home as a door had been conveniently cracked open on the left side of the building beside a fire escape. we felt we were intruding, noticing how "lived in" the manor seemed when we entered, so we didn't get more than 10 steps in. still prettyyyy interesting. photos:

photosafari

one week and two days left until i return home for two days then partir for another two weeks and a few days.

ahahahaahahah
so i will be officially and stably back in Hamilton July 19th 2010.

after that it is sweet sweet hammy summer, work and finishing up some other projects.
i feel like i have been skimming on the photos lately, so i will be introducing some below.
there are some of the Barnyard/Pumphouse microbrewery just a 15-20 minute walk from the UMoncton campus. Twas pretty interesting.

Then yestereve, we went to La Fete de Music. A music festival featuring local acts, which I was very impressed by. It was quaint, but I got some ginger lemonade with REAL pieces of ginger. soooo great, and totally relieved my stomach ache. we docy-does, hoola hooped and hung out. it was a fantastic first day of summer. LOVE YOU JUIN!

and now for your viewing pleasure:

Fete de La Music

This is a picture of my amis natalie, gazing out onto the Atlantic Ocean. We were on a boat cruise...that taught about eating lobster...kind of disgusting but tasted good?

Pumphouse!

find the mind to mend it

the last photo is a blind shot i took, i couldn't get low enough to look at the picture in the preview window without falling into the rising tides! Hopewell Rocks New Brunswick, the most photographed place in NB. Guess I can just add to the pile here..

final thought of the day,
this weekend was quite interesting. i feel like the biggest question that hangs over everyone's head sometimes, no matter where they are, is why am i here? it is a rhetorical, but i mean it is a valid query. why did i come here? so many reasons but maybe fate had something in store for me my brain could not have managed to logically deduct.

in any case, i am so happy to be here.

think tank

it's funny
how we look to friends
the wisdom of stars
bibles, torahs and qu'ran
to figure shit out

and maybe karl marx was right
we should just end philosophy
and keep doing things
rather than just thinking about them
books are great wonderful pieces of life
but life itself we can't read about in two weeks
write about in paragraphs
we have to touch feel and grip with our whole beings.

i find it hard sometimes to explain the way things are
so i ask everyone
i ask myself
i ask the internet
i ask my mom
my dad
but the answers are always simple

to whatever issue
honesty and kindness underlie them
a sense of self importance but not to demean the lives of others

do what makes you happy
and know that people aren't perfect
neither are you
your ego is a big jerk
so just let it be and give yourself time

blah blah blah.

thought bubble over.

weekend rap up/beginning of the week

yaaaap so myself, and four other girls (and a few other cars full of people) went to Prince Edward Island this weekend. It was a really beautiful experience, despite that stubborn rain. I touched the choppy and frigid waters of the atlantic, visited the birth place of the author of anne of green gables, had a lobster buffet dinner (60 foot salad bar) and visited the parliament building in charlottetown. for such a small island, it has so much to offer. i wish i could have died on that beach, it was so beautiful. if that was my last memory above all, it was just so CLEAN and the red sand was wonderful.

on sunday we went to frenchy's (a value village type store but more disorganized and cheaper) and a flea market (marche de pauce). the moncton locals are pretty nice, one gave me his home phone number ! i needed help with finding some bikes (5 exactly).

i am style bike-less. sooooon though, sooon.

i have so much work lol it's kind of funny how much procrastination i have done in the past few days.

toddddday today today we did a promo video for u de moncton. kind of hilarious...i refrained from yelling i just opened my mouth when everyone else was yelling to make that appearance you know????

okay photossss:

day 5

the anarchs of moncton create these great stencil graffitis. it is something i have picked up on here, and they appear often on concrete surfaces (bridges and sidewalks)
i will upload the ones i found tonight, overall they are quite beautiful snapshots of the opinions of the culture. an under belly per se.

and we are going to a mall! lol
i am not excited that this will be too interesting considering it's a mall
i am learning to just go with the planned events
they are usually pretty fun.

class is great, my prof is really nice. we talked about bi-linguilism today and the new casino in moncton that is ONLY in english. lame

most of the residents here are anglophone, but 40% are francophone. crazy eh?

blah blah blah.

i should take more pictures.

maybe on our walk.
